Loughborough Estate Murals Project
This involved the design and execution of vitreous enamel murals (each measuring approximately 2.5m x 8m) which formed part of the structure of new reception areas in five residential tower blocks in Lambeth Council’s Loughborough Estate. The project formed part of the final stage of a five year urban regeneration programme, and involved close collaboration with Lambeth Council architects and planners. One of the murals consisted of designs by children from a local school at art workshops organised by Public Works. In April 1996 the murals represented one of three “Highly Commended Projects” in Wapping Arts Trust’s prestigious 1996 Art and Work Award.
