Public Art
Jason Gibilaro has been active since 1995 (both on an individual basis and with the Public Works art group, of which he was a founder member) in instigating and bringing to completion a series of public art projects, many involving large scale vitreous enamel art work, for which he has developed a speciality - the Loughborough Junction "We Love It Here" mural, installed in 2002 and measuring 7 by 8 metres, being the largest example of this genre in Britain.
Others include: the Loughborough Estate Mural Project, which was "Highly Commended" in the Wapping Arts Trust's prestigious 1996 "Art and Work Award"; two National Lottery funded projects - the Westbury Estate Public Art Project, opened in 1998 by Alan Howarth MP, Minister for the Arts; and the Fern Lodge Public Art Project, opened in 2002 by Tessa Jowell MP, Secretary of State at the Department of Culture. Other high profile projects include the Westbury Water Feature off the Wandsworth Road London, which was "Highly Commended" in the 2001 Marsh Fountain Award, organised by the Fountain Society; the 2004 Brixton Railway Bridge Project, the image of which was used for the launch of the Brixton Cultural and Creative Industries Showcase at the Mayor of London's headquarters in City Hall.
The most recent project to date was the GKS Public Art Project consisting of 4 2 metre square murals installed on the exterior of an Elderly Sheltered Scheme. Opened in 2005.
